Fractal Garden
This is an interactive 3D scene, and it needs JavaScript to
draw. It begins as an open plot of grassland. You choose a spot,
pick one of seventeen trees, and it goes into the ground as a
sapling.
Then time does the work. Every day and night cycle is a year, and
the sun's own hours are the seasons: dawn is spring, noon is
summer, dusk is autumn, and midnight is winter. Leaves bud,
deepen, turn, and fall. Snow arrives in the small hours and
melts as the light comes back. The trees grow a little older
every year, and your garden is still there when you return.
The one thing they ask for is water, and they ask for it plainly.
A small gauge on every bed shows how full that tree's tank is,
and a thirsty one raises a blue droplet above it. Tap the
droplet and the tree drinks. A tree left dry through enough
summers begins to wilt, though it is never truly gone, and the
first watering puts buds back on the branches within seconds.
SceneXP is a home for 3D experiences that run right in your
browser. This one is a garden you plant and tend yourself.
